All fifteen scores, one ranking

This installment of the CAC Score study turns the lens on the operators themselves. Across the fifteen California-facing casinos we evaluated, scores run from Ignition at 98 down to VoltageBet at 75, with a field average of 86.9. Every score below is the weighted result of eight pillars; the full method lives in the research study PDF and the weighting article.

The shape of the field

Nine operators land in the Excellent band (85+) and six in the Good band (75–84); none fall below 75. The chart makes the gradient obvious — the leaders cluster tightly in the mid-to-high 90s, then a clear step down into the 80s and 70s.

The CAC team weighs in

We pulled the six analysts behind the study together to talk through what the fifteen scores actually mean for a California player.

Derek Loomis
Derek LoomisLead Analyst

Looking across all fifteen, the story is consistency, not fireworks. Ignition (98) and BetOnline (97) don't win on any single pillar so much as they refuse to drop one below the mid-90s. The casinos that land in the 70s always have one anchor dragging them down.

Aaron Whitfield
Aaron WhitfieldBanking Analyst

And that anchor is almost always banking. The five crypto-forward operators scored a full 9.6 points higher on Payout than everyone else (t = 3.31, p = .006). BetOnline resting on 249 verified players makes its 97 the most evidentially solid number in the set.

Chloe Marsh
Chloe MarshReview Editor

What jumps out for readers is the star-versus-CAC gap. A 23-point CAC spread collapses into five star steps, so Wild (86) and Lucky Creek (82) both read as 3.5 stars even though the CAC separates them clearly. The star is fine for a glance; the CAC is for actually choosing.

Joanna Pham
Joanna PhamGames & Data Analyst

Game Selection is where the mid-table earns its keep. Super Slots and All Star Slots both clear 96 on the player survey because the libraries are deep, but you can see in the data that a great library never rescues a weak payout score.

Ryan Carrigan
Ryan CarriganSports & Live Analyst

On the live-dealer and sportsbook side, Bovada and BetOnline are the ones California players actually name. Their support and live offerings hold up, which is why they sit comfortably in the Excellent band rather than scraping into it.

Theo Ashworth
Theo AshworthRegulatory Analyst

From the regulatory chair, the floor matters. Every casino we scored cleared the 100-verified-player rule, so none of these numbers rest on a thin sample. The ones I'd watch are the trailing operators where licensing and dispute resolution pull Trust down into the 70s.

Derek Loomis
Derek LoomisLead Analyst

So the practical takeaway: read the pillar that matters to you. If fast crypto cashouts are the priority, weight Payout and look at the top five. If you're bonus-hunting, check Bonuses & Value but don't let a flashy offer paper over a 73 on banking.
