Untreated disabilities increase children’s risk for many adversities, including persistent academic and behavioral difficulties in school. Federally-funded research shows that some minority groups, due to cultural and language barriers, are underrepresented in special education. The Asian community is of particular concern in California.
CAC and our co-host Opening Doors PTA, has invited Ms. Karis Daggs, an attorney with OCRA, to speak about your rights in special education. OCRA (Office of Clients’ Rights Advocacy) aims to ensure that all children with disabilities, regardless of race, ethnicity, or language, receive the care they need. All families are welcome.
