Facilitating Social Skills Using Mobile Technology (Slides Available)

Today, 98% of households have a mobile device, like smartphones, tablets, or other smart-mobile devices. This world of overwhelming connectivity is transforming the lives of children. Can we harness the power of mobile technology to facilitate social skills for our children?

In this workshop, we will cover the following:

-Review & description of social skill building frameworks
-Review of relevant research on facilitating socials using mobile technology
-Demonstration of appropriate apps to use
-Discussion of applying the techniques across settings

Dawn Ferrer, MA, SLP and Luna DeCurtis, MA, SLP are co-founders Morning2Moon Productions. They are two speech therapists passionate about early intervention, autism spectrum disorders (ASD), social skills training, and family education and coaching. M2M focuses on incorporating the skills and techniques used in traditional therapy while using the iPad as a tool to achieve similar outcomes.
